You say you want to get in the swing of the Worldcon, but you're
too much of a homebody to be patrolling the galaxy with the Galactic
Patrol?
We've got plenty of things for folks to help with in the next week or so—so come
on down!
Virtual Volunteering
And if you can't join us in real time, check out what we've been up to in virtual space:
Leslie Turek's been documenting the progress of our various work sessions on the Committee Blog…see what we've been up to:
- July 31 was a Day of Construction,
as we checked out building materials for usefulness, figured out how we want to arrange
wire grids, made some signs, and began to figure out how to construct our "Saturns" (directional markers) for the ConCourse;
- August 6–8 was the
Open Meeting, when
committee members converged on the Sheraton Boston for lots of work, a bunch of meetings, and even some laughs;
- August 14 was the day of
the "s"es, as sets, signs, and Saturns dominated the work;
- August 21 and 22 became the Days of the
Badges for one part of the local crew, while another bunch of folks focused on Convention Guide production.
Local Pre-Con Help
The schedule for the coming week has lots of places where we can use more help.
Please check it out!
At-Con Volunteering
If you're only going to be able to help at con, that's okay too—there's
lots of places for you to choose to work…
| usher at the Time Machine, the Hugo Ceremony or the Masquerade |
help with kids' activities |
staff the Con Suite: keep an eye on the snacks and the free sodas
and help keep it neat and stocked |
| help distribute newsletter issues |
monitor one of the Gaming Rooms for a shift or two |
Guard a door so that only convention members are admitted
to convention space |
| move stuff…we have lots of stuff to be moved |
volunteer to keep an eye on things in the Mended Drum |
be a Den Mommy for Masquerade |
Let us know what you'd like to do…let us know now, or let us know at
con, but please let us know!
To contact us, you can use our
online volunteer form or send
e-mail to volunteers@noreascon.org.
At con, you can drop by the Volunteers Office, in Hynes 207, or stop at the
Volunteers table near
At-Con Information, in the ConCourse, to see where we most need help.
